A real demonstration of macOS voice dictation, setup through the spoken commands for punctuation, line breaks, quotes, and capitalization, misses and all.
Dictation is free and built into every modern Mac, and talking is faster than typing when you’re trying to capture an idea. This walks through turning it on, the shortcut to trigger it, and the spoken commands that make it usable: punctuation, hyphens, new lines and paragraphs, quotation marks, and capitalization. It also shows where it struggles, unusual names and URLs mostly, and how to correct it when it does. Requires macOS Sonoma or later; Apple silicon MacBooks (2020 or newer) run it on-device.
